More about our Founders:

Thomas Bersani, MD.  Since 1987, Dr. Bersani has concentrated his practice exclusively in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, eyebrows, tear ducts, orbit and face. A published author of medical research, he is involved in on-going research projects and has lectured at professional meetings throughout the United States. He is actively involved in educating physicians as an associate clinical professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology at the SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Dr. Bersani graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center and an internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania – Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia. His post graduate training included a fellowship in Eye Plastic and Orbital Surgery, performed at the University of Michigan, W.K. Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Bersani is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). This organization’s members consist of about 500 surgeons nationally who have completed an approved fellowship, passed written and oral exams, and defended a thesis in the field of oculoplastic surgery. Dr. Bersani meets biannually with the organization to bring you the latest treatments in the field.

 

Robert Weisenthal, MD.  Dr. Weisenthal is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Surgeon, specializing in corneal and anterior segment surgery. He has been performing Small Incision Cataract Surgery, Corneal Transplantation Surgery, DSAEK, and Laser surgery for 20 years in Central New York.

He served his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, Scheie Eye Institute, and completed his fellowship in Corneal Surgery at the University of Iowa. He served as Assistant Chief of Ophthalmology at Scheie Eye Institute before moving to Syracuse in 1988 to join the faculty at SUNY Upstate Medical Center as a cornea specialist.

Dr Weisenthal was recently promoted to Clinical Professor and continues to remain active teaching surgery to the residents. He is a founding member and director of LaserView of CNY, the primary refractive center in Central New York. In addition, he is the only refractive surgeon in Central New York who has been accredited by the Council of Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance, an independent organization that certifies the training credentials of refractive surgeons.
